I don’t know whether this concerns you, but I wasn’t quite interested in Shakespeare’s plays and it’s obvious that a child cannot properly understand them. Being a matured adult, I love reading these eternal poems and I think that Shakespeare’s work is one the greatest contributions to the world literature. Kids are not ready to face the world and this is why too serious poems cannot be perceived properly. So, if you are kind of a parent who cares about your teenager’s personal life, then you can watch together the new romantic animation ‘’Gnomeo and Juliet’’. Does it sound somehow familiar?
Gnomeo and Juliet is an animation that is inspired by the greatest love story ever told. Romeo and Juliet are garden gnomes that are ready to struggle for their love. The movie features both classic and original songs by Elton John, so the music background ideally suits the storyline. ‘Gnomeo and Juliet’’ is a movie that recounts the life of two charming garden gnomes that face many difficulties which they need to overcome in order to find their lasting happiness. The two fab gnomes are caught up in a feud between their neighbours. Having in mind the serious ‘’Romeo and Juliet’’, it’s noteworthy that the movie keeps the story of a star-crossed lovers caught in a feud.
Even though it may be hard to believe, the story about garden gnomes is actually quite delightful.
Miss Montague (voiced by Julie Walters) lives next door to Mr. Capulet (voiced by Richard Wilson). They despise each other, because they both possess beautifully landscaped backyards. However, their gardens are full of garden gnomes who carry on the feud of the owners.
The star blue gnome, Gnomeo /James McAvoy/ and his sweet lady, the red gnome, Juliet /voiced by Emily Blunt/ fall in love at first sight. Soon they realize that they are from rival garden, so their love is forbidden. Fortunately, an old plastic flamingo Benny (Matt Lucas) helps them find out that their love is stronger than the enmity between their gardens. Thus, their affection makes them try to overcome all the obstacles in their life. Would the bitter rivalry ruin the true love? The writers kept the original tale, so Gnomeo’s adversary is Tybalt (voiced by Jason Statham), a scoundrel who rides a mean lawnmower.
Would the cute young garden gnomes couple find the happy end of their love story?
I truly enjoyed this funny animation which features beautifully created animated heroes and absorbing moments at the background of the lush, properly organized gardens.
I am addicted to animations, but my unbiased opinion is that ‘’Gnomeo and Juliet’’ has to be on your must-watch list.
I read Romeo and Juliet as well! Its a great story (though I like Julius Ceaser better). I hope this film’s amusing!
I hope it isn’t stupid! No comedy themed animation has disappointed me yet (except shrek 3)
Gotta love a great animated movie! The story line is great and graphics are awesome, it’s crazy how animation has improved year over year! Not only for kids, but an enjoyable movie for adults as well.
This looks really good, I might just have to take my kids to see it.
